Jing Ye: Mounted Pressure, the Thorn Shield and the Smoke Rush
Switch tactics when Jing Ye dismounts. Use the Fanatic’s Broken Blade to manage distance, Dread Axe against the thorn shield and dodges for the black-flash smoke rush.

The useful phase cue against Jing Ye, the Outlaw is his dismount and raised thorn shield. Change your response when you see it: ranged sword attacks can help manage the mounted phase, while the shield needs attention before longer melee strings.
Bring tools for two different jobs
Turn left from the Outlaw Trap Bell in Crimson Forest and cross the pit to reach the encounter.
- The Fanatic’s Broken Blade: drinking enters the Tipsy state and turns its attacks into ranged sword attacks. The Hua Qianxiao guide covers its acquisition.
- Dread Axe: use charged attacks that you have already unlocked to reduce the thorn shield after Jing Ye dismounts. Check the current move instructions rather than assuming a three-hit charged sequence is available without an upgrade.
The ranged option does not replace the shield-breaking tool; each addresses a different part of the fight.
While he is mounted, watch your Tipsy state as well as his attacks
Keep your distance while using the ranged attacks, but stay ready to defend. Jing Ye can send spinning projectiles toward you from range, and hits build bleed.
Also watch the Tipsy duration. Its ending animation briefly leaves you unable to act, which is dangerous if he has caught up. If you want to continue this approach, refresh the state during a safe opening rather than waiting until it has already ended.
When he dismounts, stop feeding attacks into the shield
Jing Ye switches to a large blade and thorn shield. Ordinary attacks caught by that shield reflect damage back to you. Use Dread Axe’s charged attacks to work down the shield before extending your offense.
Once the shield is dealt with, you can keep using ranged attacks or return to a melee weapon you know well. Choose according to how consistently you can handle his next rush, rather than the damage of a single combo.
Smoke on the ground signals a dodge check
During the foot phase, a long trail of smoke precedes a black-flash thrust from behind the cloud. Blocking that move empties your Sha-Chi. Watch the emerging rush and dodge it.
If this repeatedly catches you, reduce your attacks as soon as the smoke appears. Let the rush resolve before restarting your damage cycle.
Victory awards Outlaw Warblade, which becomes an option for later encounters. Inspect its actual moves and upgrade requirements before investing materials.
