Blaze Boss Guide: Chain Grabs, Reinforcements and Second-Phase Red Flashes

Reach Blaze above the southern covered bridge in Pangzhen. Separate the unmarked interrupting grab from red-flash threats and plan for recurring reinforcements.

Blaze, Shadow Warden Captain uses more than one kind of grab. The chain swing followed by a turn has no red flash and interrupts your pursuit; the second-phase red-flash threat calls for a dodge. Do not treat every grab as harmless just because the unmarked one deals no direct damage.

Reach the fight above the southern covered bridge

In Pangzhen, climb the large stairs from the covered bridge labelled 南门廊桥 to reach the encounter.

If you own the fire-protection talisman 辟火符, it is an equipment option for reducing fire damage. A familiar Outlaw Warblade setup can remain useful, and Kuye Temple Prayer Beads offer support against the additional enemies.

First phase: keep reading the chain after moving away

Blaze’s chains cover medium and longer distances. Block to learn the rhythm, then attempt timed blocks to reduce his Sha-Chi. Creating space does not remove his reach.

Watch the end of a chain string for the red-flash grab. Successfully blocking the earlier swings does not mean the full sequence is over.

The other grab begins with a chain swing and a turn, without a red warning. It does not directly damage you, but it breaks your pursuit. Recover your position and read the follow-up rather than immediately trying to recover a lost hit.

Reinforcements create a recurring crowd check

Other wardens join as the fight progresses. Clearing them creates a quieter opening, but more can appear later.

Continue checking the arena after the first wave. Summoned help from Kuye Temple Prayer Beads can divide the pressure. First confirm that the icon has the special glow showing summoning is available, and check your remaining Phantom Edge resources; the beads cannot summon in every area. Decide whether to approach Blaze according to the enemies currently around you.

Second phase: stop attacking when the red warning appears

Depleting the first health bar does not end the encounter. During the second phase, prioritize dodging the red-flash attacks instead of continuing an ordinary block or a long attack animation.

Fire resistance and healing do not replace that response. If the grab keeps catching you, reduce your offense during the warning and use a completed dodge as the starting point for re-engaging.

Check the quest item as well as the weapon

Victory awards the Fire Meteor Phantom Edge. Yu’er’s later quest route also obtains the red flower 鲜红的血肉花 at this point. Keep it separate from the earlier flower delivery.
