The Hunt Boss Guide: Falling Chains, Blue Flashes and Tornadoes

Read The Hunt’s second-phase signals separately: move sideways through falling chains, prepare for the follow-up rush and leave the tornado before re-engaging.

On this page 4 sections

In The Hunt’s second phase, avoid chasing every disappearance. Move sideways out of falling chains, prepare for the rush after the last chain lands, and retreat from the tornado. Each signal calls for a different response.

Keep a familiar weapon setup

This is a story encounter in Weeping Creek Valley. Jagged Steel builds bleed through its attacks, so it remains an option if you already know its moves. Check the early bleed build rather than changing every part of your attack sequence for this fight.

In the first phase, observe the ordinary strings while blocking and add damage between them. Blue- and red-flash attacks can reach across a considerable distance; stepping back does not remove the need to watch the warning.

Separate the second-phase signals

Signal Immediate response Counterattack check
He hangs in the air while swinging chains. Watch for the blue flash inside the sequence. A successful timed block against that attack creates a chance to close in.
He vanishes and purple chains appear overhead. Run sideways out of the falling-chain area. Prepare for the close-range rush after all chains land.
He summons a tornado. Move away from him. Wait for the tornado to end before returning.

More frequent attacks do not mean that every gap can fit a combo. Learn where the full string ends before committing to one.

Expect the rush after the chains

The purple chains fall downward toward your position, making sideways movement useful. Once the chain sequence ends, The Hunt rushes at you. Attempt the timed block as he reaches close range; a successful response opens a counterattack opportunity.

The trap is treating the final falling chain as the end of the whole move. Deal with the rush before beginning your own attack.

Check the retry point and reward

The recorded route describes two phases and a second-phase retry after dying during that phase. If your version presents a different checkpoint, follow the actual retry screen.

Defeating The Hunt awards Hunter’s Chain Sickle. It comes from the story battle, so you do not need a separate quest or chest with that name.

Version scope: Specific patch version not confirmed. Game updates may change these mechanics. Follow the current in-game behavior where it differs.
