Weeping Creek Valley: Chests, Locked Routes and Return Visits

Plan return visits in Weeping Creek Valley around the axe boss, waterfall boss and later village dialogue, with separate checks for each locked route.

On this page 5 sections

You do not need to finish every point in Weeping Creek Valley on the first visit. Some routes need later equipment; others wait for dialogue in another area. Grouping them by their actual requirements makes return trips more useful.

On your first visit

Near Soul’s waking location, look back toward the chest across the cliff. Mark it for later: you need the chain-sickle from the waterfall boss before you can cross. See the opening chest route for the landmarks.

You will also hear a woman crying and receive a side quest early on. Its later steps require much more story progress, so keep the quest rather than searching the first chapter repeatedly for its conclusion.

At Mandate Outpost, speak to the elderly man sitting on a rooftop. His quest eventually awards a bow used to shoot down items hanging out of reach. The bow quest guide follows the full sequence.

After the axe boss: revisit the chained door

There is a door sealed with chains at the station. Return to check it after defeating Peng Meng, the Axemaster on the route beyond the station.

Keep this door separate from the bridge watched by two guards. Those two obstacles have different requirements; beating the axe boss does not complete the later dialogue needed for the bridge.

At the tower: decide when to attempt the optional fight

On the first floor of Sha-Chi Tower, a staircase in a corner leads downward to the optional bride boss Hua, Deadly Betrothed. Defeating her awards the shield-breaking weapon Scarlet Wraithblade.

The fight is demanding. You can find the entrance, mark it and return when you are ready. The early weapon guide explains how the reward fits alongside a bleed weapon.

After the waterfall boss: make two return trips

Defeat The Hunt, Sixfold Scythe at the large waterfall, then check these destinations:

Destination What to do
Cliff near the original waking location Use the newly obtained chain-sickle to reach the chest
Top of the tower Pick up the key, then explore the hidden area it opens and the lower part of the tower

You will find a red house in that hidden area, but it still cannot be entered at this stage. Opening the larger area does not automatically open every door within it.

The hidden area also contains a crane-shaped bell tied to past events and a dragon pillar. These lead into exploration and story discoveries; note their locations if you prefer to investigate them later.

After the later village conversation: revisit the guarded bridge

The bridge watched by two guards requires progress to Village of Lu, followed by a conversation with Old Man Gen. Return after that conversation.

Check the location and dialogue requirements separately. Merely arriving at the village is not the same as completing the conversation that opens the route.
